Ambassadors for Christ
1 Corinthians 5v20 NASB
“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were entreating through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ be reconciled to God”
We are ambassadors for Christ, representing Him in all we do, every place we go, in every thing we say, every action we take, it ought to represent Christ! This is quite a challenge for us all, but it’s true. We do not always get it right, and we often know when we get it wrong but this is only a great opportunity to be more like Jesus when He walked on the earth. Have you truly considered this statement of scripture?
God is entreating through us, which basically means He is appealing to mankind through each and every one of us who has come to know Jesus. He has chosen each of us, which is our calling to be the mouthpiece, or the action of, or the vehicle in which God wants to reach the world around us. It seems a lot of world to reach, but it simply means the people we circulate among, our friends, the people we work with, our families, our acquaintances, those that cross our paths every day of our lives. These are not contacts, but people living real lives, with real emotions, with working lives, with families and friends and every day challenges just like you and I. What is the difference? We love God, we live for God, and we have an extra edge to us, the missing link that many have yet to discover.
Be reconciled to God, in a ministry of reconciliation, each one of us can be a part of reconciling someone to Jesus! It sounds a grand statement but it’s true. Can I really do that? Can I help someone come to know Christ like I do? That’s what the Bible says, so I find no reason to disbelieve Gods word, do you? How? I can hear you saying, or, I have not got the confidence like some have? Begin by believing the God who is with you daily! Be proud of your Christianity! Be proud and not afraid to discuss and talk about the greatest person who walked the face of the earth. I have found it to be true on so many occasions that many people simply need a gentle prompt or a small nudge to open them up and before you know it they want to discuss these things. Very recently I was walking back from a restaurant with a work colleague and it was a very clear evening and many stars were visible in the sky! I simply said “Don’t you think its amazing - the night sky?” He replied, “Yes I do. It makes me consider that we are not alone, what do you think?” I replied, “Well I have Faith in God and I am convinced he created all this.” It led to a long conversation about all sorts, where I became an ambassador for Christ, a situation where “God was entreating through me”, beginning the reconciliation of Himself with someone yet to discover Jesus! Go for it, take a chance, and experience God working through you. It’s your destiny!
